Tamim Abu Hayat
Council Member
Town: Tira
Journalist, media and communication professional, high-tech professional, social and political activist.
Participated in establishing non-profit organizations and cultural bodies, art, volunteering, and political activity in Arab society, led Jewish-Arab partnership projects.
Since the age of 10, I have been involved in social and political activities, first in youth movements and mainly in Banki (Young Communist League), and later in Maki (Israeli Communist Party) and Hadash. I joined the "Standing Together" movement since its establishment, and I am a member of various other movements and groups for Jewish-Arab cooperation.
As a council member, I intend to contribute to political activity from my extensive experience in communication, media, journalism, high-tech, and organization. I also intend to contribute significantly in the field of Jewish-Arab cooperation activities based on my experience in this area.
I believe in the idea that peace between Jews and Palestinians begins and is implemented with full equality for all different populations of the state, and in cooperation before anything else. I have always fought and will continue to fight for peace, equality, and social justice as supreme values. Peace between Israel and Palestinians should be based on ending the occupation and granting freedom and the right to self-determination to the Palestinian people, just as the Jewish people received them.
