I was born in Germany after the war to parents who were "life survivors". My mother was a doctor who completed her studies in Bukhara, Uzbekistan, and my father, who was born in a town near Lvov, was a merchant. They arrived at a displaced persons camp in Germany, where I was born.
After 1948, with the help of emissaries who came to the displaced persons camps, my parents arrived in Israel and settled in Givatayim. Neither of them was Zionist, they knew very little about Judaism but were determined to succeed, so they worked hard and saved every penny. The Weberian theory of Protestant ethics and the spirit of capitalism was perfectly realized in them.
From a young age, I studied English with a private teacher, all this in case the "Nazis" would come again - in a different form - and we could take the prepared suitcase and I could immediately integrate into a school in the USA.
At Tel Aviv University, I studied English Literature and Theater Arts. I completed my master's degree on "Political Changes in Curricula". In 1999, I completed my doctorate at the University of London on "The Influence of Gender in Professional Choice". I published two books and several articles. I taught at Levinsky College (about 30 years) and simultaneously at Sapir College (10 years), at the American University in Washington and then at the University of Maryland (13 years). We returned to Israel in 2020. I am a mother of three and grandmother to 8 grandchildren.
In recent years, I studied at the Open University for a master's degree in History, and on Monday, 20.5.24, I will receive the degree in a festive ceremony. I love learning!
