Protest activities in Arab towns are intensifying against the ongoing wave of crime, murders, and extortion, taking place in full view of the Israeli police and without any adequate response. The High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens has called for a nationwide demonstration in Tel Aviv this coming Saturday. This call is receiving broad support across Arab society, and popular committees and various social groups are working locally to prepare for the demonstration, including public outreach and organizing transportation.
On the ground, in the city of Tamra, a protest vigil was held with the participation of lawyers near the “Clock Square,” where signs were raised emphasizing the role of lawyers in opposing bloodshed and the spread of weapons. In addition, associations and unions of doctors, engineers, and lawyers in the city announced their participation in the general strike scheduled for today, in protest of the escalation of violence and crime. These protest vigils are part of a broad and ongoing popular movement that has been continuing for about a week and a half, including strikes and demonstrations in a number of Arab towns.
At the Bi‘ina–Deir al-Asad junction, another protest vigil took place with the participation of dozens of residents and activists, as part of the ongoing popular struggle against the spread of crime and violence in Arab society, and as an expression of public anger over the continued bloodshed and lack of personal security.
A protest vigil was also held in Arraba with the participation of residents of Sakhnin, Arraba, and Deir Hanna, against the spread of crime and violence in Arab society, emphasizing the public stance rejecting weapons, chaos, and bloodshed.
At the same time, incidents of violence and crime continued: two young men (aged 28–33) were injured in a stabbing incident in Majd al-Krum. One was reported in moderate condition, and the other in light to moderate condition. Both were evacuated to hospital for further treatment.
