Stop the assassination of journalists in Gaza!✦ Stop the war of destruction!

Announcement from the All Citizens Party:

esterday, the IDF killed five journalists in a tank shelling on Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, which resulted in the deaths of 20 people – all civilians. The journalists are: Mohammad Salama, a cameraman for Al Jazeera; Hussam Al-Masri, who worked with Reuters; Mariam Abu Daka from The Independent, who also worked with the Associated Press (AP) and other outlets throughout the war; as well as freelance journalists Moath Abu Taha and Ahmed Abu Aziz. In addition, another journalist was killed by sniper fire in the Al-Mawasi area near Khan Younis – journalist Hassan Douhan, who worked with the newspaper Al-Hayat Al-Jadida.

Regrettably, this is not an isolated incident but rather an established policy of the army, with the number of journalists killed reaching 246 since the start of the war. The IDF is not content with preventing local and foreign journalists from entering various areas in the Gaza Strip, but also eliminates those already there who have been working for years with foreign agencies, intimidating them with terrorist acts. The Prime Minister issued a statement in English – not in Hebrew and not in Arabic – in which he expressed regret over the deaths of foreign victims, but for the 15 local civilians who were killed, no one expressed regret – not Netanyahu nor anyone else.

A policy of assassinating and terrorizing journalists exists only in dictatorial and fascist regimes, just like the policy of killing innocent civilians without accountability or responsibility. This policy is intended not only to prevent the world from seeing the truth of what is happening in Gaza, but also to prevent Israeli citizens themselves from seeing these harsh realities and holding those responsible for these war crimes accountable. The army’s claim that “an investigation was opened” is one we are already used to – “investigations” about which nothing is ever heard beyond the day they are “launched,” if they ever take place at all.

The All Citizens Party strongly condemns the killing of journalists, medical teams, rescue teams, and civilians in a systematic way and as a method of warfare, as well as the deliberate bombings of hospitals and clinics. Such crimes cannot go unpunished.

We call for the immediate end of this destructive war – now, not tomorrow – and a return to negotiations to bring back the hostages and withdraw from the besieged and starved Gaza Strip.Enough killing, enough destruction, enough suffocating democracy and granting legitimacy to fascist actions.
