The All Citizens Party has warned in the past, and warns again today, about the continued spread of fascist ideas and practices that are on the verge of destroying democracy — a democracy that has already suffered multiple blows over the past three years. And now the Prime Minister is signaling his intention to outlaw an entire party represented by five members of the Knesset!
The All Citizens Party strongly condemns the Prime Minister’s statements, which carry the clear scent of an attempt to link Ra’am to the global Muslim Brotherhood movement with one goal in mind: ensuring his continued hold on power and preventing the party from joining the opposition and helping form the next government. The people of Israel have already endured many blows and disasters due to Netanyahu’s efforts to remain in power; now he seeks to deal a fatal blow to Israeli democracy as well.
The party also condemns Minister Ben-Gvir’s attempts to cut nearly one billion shekels from the budgets allocated to the Arab community in Israel — most of them from education budgets — and redirect them to the police and Shin Bet under the pretext of “fighting crime.” These budgets currently contribute to combating crime through strengthening education and extracurricular programs. Ben-Gvir can look for other funding sources, and he should first utilize the budgets and resources that were previously allocated to the police for combating crime — funds that were diverted elsewhere, allowing crime to spread unchecked in Arab society.
The All Citizens Party calls on all democratic parties and movements in the country to launch a strong public campaign to protect democracy and halt the fascism spreading through the actions of the government and the far-right coalition.
