Between a deceptive war trap and an unfortunate constitutional trap

While the war continues and claims lives for no purpose but only to preserve the government's survival, the fighters of the democratic struggle in Kaplan have effectively become prisoners on Gaza Street in Merhavia and in the hands of the Prime Minister.
This is the reality that the country has found itself in, a dead end from which it is unclear how to get out before the election date, even though there is a fear that it will be postponed.
I felt the bleak and embarrassing reality when I participated last week in a conference held by the Beit Berl Foundation under the title: Democratic Israel Will Win.
The question is whether democratic Israel or Israeli democracy, which of the two will win? Or will both goals of the protesters be achieved, a complete victory in the destruction of Gaza and also the struggle for democracy and against the coup d'état. But unfortunately both goals have gone beyond the control of the protesters.
There seems to be a fundamental difference. To whom or what did the conference planners mean when they used the word "forever"?
Is this referring to the war in Gaza led by the Netanyahu government or to the victory of the struggle against the coup?
This question is part of an attempt to break a vicious circle and contradictions within Israeli society.
The entire world and most Israelis, except for the government and its supporters, agree that the time has come to end the war and return the hostages, and only then begin some kind of process with international involvement, in an attempt to find a solution to the conflict instead of waging it for years to come.
But the problem is that Israelis are already captives of the current government. Where is the breaking point?
It should be found in a declaration of insolvency and a precedent-setting decision by the Attorney General's office or a courageous Supreme Court that will intervene in the fine line between the authorities' authority before we move from democracy to dictatorship, should a desperate petition reach it from those who are still allowed to oppose the government without being accused of treason or incitement.
Whether and when will the gatekeepers allow themselves to intervene or is it not possible at all, otherwise they are throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
This is an abuse of legal proceedings. It is a well-known rule when a party to a proceeding uses a section of the law as a hatchet to dig into for an illegitimate and certainly unjust purpose, merely to gain time or harm the opponent while exploiting the system and state resources.
This is what the government is actually doing. The government is exploiting the obligation to follow orders and implement government decisions and exploiting a moral obligation that had overwhelming support at the beginning of the war. It used this as a fatal overdose.
The ongoing process of regime change was reflected in the continuation of the war.
Out of goodwill and concern for the future of the country, the Kaplan camp was effectively made a prisoner by Gaza Street Merhavia, until election day comes and we return to sanity to live as human beings in a democratic country that should be for all its citizens. Until then, we will continue to suffer and count more victims.
