The annual special preparations and heightened security alerts during the month of Ramadan only add fuel to the fire of hatred, racism, and alienation. This year, the police have again decided to bolster forces and significantly restrict the age of entry for prayers at the Al-Aqsa mosques, contrary to all values of freedom of worship.
The month of Ramadan, a month of fasting, is a religious duty and an integral part of the existence and culture of the Muslim and Arab world.
During this month, there is an emphasis on transcending the physical and spiritual self, demonstrating patience towards oneself as a human being, and tolerance towards others. It is a month of blessing, good deeds, and acts of kindness. It is not a season for confrontation of any kind, certainly not for additional conflicts or wars; in fact, Muslims are forbidden to engage in combat during this month according to religious teachings.
It is a period of calm for the body and soul, as prescribed by religious commandments and the universal human message.
A time for elevation and tolerance.
This is what is lacking and necessary during this sensitive period.
Let each person live by their faith.
Be sensitive and aware of the suffering of others, whoever they may be, as human beings.
Not a season of conflict.
We have all been through enough and suffered no less.
Ramadan Kareem
