oday, a mass protest took place in the Negev following the violent attack carried out by Ben-Gvir’s police against the village of Tarabin al-Saʿana in the Negev, and its takeover by force involving more than 300 police officers from various units. During the attack, innocent residents were assaulted and dozens were arrested, even though not a single detainee was a criminal or involved in the incident of vehicle arson. The purpose of the attack was nothing more than a show of force by Ben-Gvir, incitement against Arab Bedouin citizens, and an attempt to intimidate them and pressure them into relinquishing their lands in the Negev.
Yesterday, the Higher Steering Committee of the Negev Arabs, together with the Forum of Arab Local Authorities in the Negev, convened in the village of Tarabin al-Saʿana and decided to hold a demonstration at the Assaluja–Be’er Hadaj junction to protest police conduct and to affirm their commitment to dignity and the right to life in the Negev.
Residents of the Negev and their supporters from across the country flocked to the Assaluja–Be’er Hadaj junction carrying protest signs, emphasizing their determination to uphold their rights and condemning the actions of the police.
The demonstrators stressed that the blood of the Negev’s residents is not cheap, and that the policy of an easy trigger pull must stop immediately. They demanded that the killer of the late young man Ayoub al-Tukhi be brought to justice, as well as all those who have taken lives in cold blood without deterrence or accountability.
The “All Its Citizens” Party expressed its full solidarity with the Arab residents of the Negev and with the residents of the village of Tarabin al-Saʿana, and condemned the conduct of the police and its attacks on citizens—rather than protecting them and providing them with security and safety.
